Niykee is still writing songs despite having been caught up in the current crisis. Niykee was selected for the YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and the rapper was with her on stage. Her popularity is constant for producers who are just getting started. The tracks she gets are a source of songs. "I'll be able to tell in the first five minutes if this is a quality beat. Once I've a tune in my mind and I begin to write immediately." My guitar is set up on the porch, and I let the words flow. The process usually takes about 30 minutes. Niykee continues to develop her skills as a poet and lyricist. She says that the pain she experienced through the years has served as an infinite sources of ideas. When I'm not writing literally about things that have occurred to me, the trauma of my childhood and loss of my sister up getting pushed into my lyrics, she says. This influences my music and creates a deeper significance behind everything that is one the most important things to me--I need to know that I can hear any of my music 20 years from now and still be happy with what I wrote.
